Current Population Survey (CPS).
A monthly survey of about 50,000 households conducted since 1947 by the Bureau of the Census for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Topics surveyed include race, income, education, family size and structure, etc. Most reports have been digitized; sometimes they are tricky to find on the census web site, where they are organized by topic, such as race or income. Bowdoin Library holds paper copies of reports from the late 1940's through the 1990's at Govt Doc C3.186.
